The name of proposed new province in Punjab has been recommended as ‘Bahawalpur South Punjab’ by the Parliamentary Committee on new provinces.
According to sources, the commission constitutional amendments for making new province in South Punjab has been finalized by the committee, met here at Islamabad on Saturday.
Singed by committee members, the recommendation draft has been sent to ministry of law. District Bahakar and Mianwali will be induced into the new province.
As per the recommendations, the number of seats for the new province in the national assembly will be 59 while the provincial assembly will be consisting of 124 members, 101 male and 23 female. Bahawalpur has been recommended as the capital of new province.
Establishment of High Court and Provincial Election Commission are also among the recommendations of the committee.
