Yesterday, we packed up our reusable grocery bags and hauled it on down to the Union Square Greenmarket to meet some friends.
So much bright, colorful food to tempt us! We left with all sorts of veggies, from small heirloom tomatoes to sunflower greens.
Our friend just moved to a new apartment, so it was the perfect opportunity to check out his (beautiful) new kitchen. Future self, you better have an island countertop!
While Jonathan made culinary magic, we went back in time to 1999 and watched 10 Things I Hate About You. True fact: despite what friends and family may think, Heath Ledger was my first love. (Well, second, after Leonardo’s Jack in Titanic.)
We feasted on sunflower, tomato and yellow sugar snap pea salad; roasted beet, carrot, potato and grilled portobello hash, and a Middle Eastern lentil dish picked up in Brooklyn.
Speaking of Brooklyn, people here have backyards! With deck furniture and everything. Le sigh.
Farmers markets, good friends, good food…. So much of New York to love.
