Back to Vanilla Ink

Tonight is week three of the Vanilla Ink Intermediate class. You may remember I attended the 'Make Your on Xmas Presents' class back in December and vowed to return for more jewelry making fun. The first intermediate class was spent refreshing our skills by creating a ring. This was similar to what was covered on the earlier course but we were encouraged to add extras to it. Easy peasy, or so I thought. Seems 4 months is a long time, enough time for me to forget everything I'd learnt before. I got there in the end, and actually managed to make a ring that fit my finger, but it wasn't quite as adventurous as I'd hoped. I'm still rather happy with it though. I like my little wonky pyramid.

In the second week it was all about stone setting. Ok, so we didn't use actual stones but the process was the same. This week didn't start off that well either. Creating a bezel setting is hard and extremely fiddly! But with a bit of determination, and a lot of help from the lovely Kate, I did it. It's not perfect, and I can't wear it as a piece of jewellery, but I set a "stone". Yay!

This week will be resin week. I've done a bit of work with resin before so I'm hoping I'm not totally useless this time. The class has been great fun so far and I've learned a lot. I'm really excited to use all these new skills to create my own designs in the coming weeks. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
