Nothing screams quintessential 90's like a Lolita-esque red sundress, and Old Navy nailed it with this easy, breezy number. While I'm not entirely sure that the High Street goliath was trying to channel Chloe Sevigny this season, the dress pays homage to indie grunge glam made famous by la Sevigny and the decade's other famous "Oh, this old thing?" blonde, Courtney Love.
I all but lived in the easy-as-pie dress during my summer trip to Europe - I slipped it on over my swimsuit on beach days, and it makes just as much sense back in the city with oh-so-90's platform heels and a fringe bag with cloth side panels that more than hint at poncho fabric. I kept it less costumey and more referential by mixing the 90's aspects with 70's cat-eye sunnies and an ethnic bracelet and necklace, scored at the Grand Bazaar last year.
