When a friend suggested we get together for lunch at Viet Noodles, a noodle shop in New Brighton she had heard good things about I said sure, I always like trying out new places. I was just planning on a fun lunch visiting with a friend, but as we saw the food being delivered to other tables and then tasted our own order I knew I had to share this find.
This unassuming authentic Vietnamese restaurant is family owned and the food was awesome... fresh and delicious! When we arrived a group at the adjoining table was having Pho, giant bowls of amazing looking soup with a side of fresh bean sprouts to add to your taste. Although they call themselves a noodle shop they are much more than that... and everything is cooked fresh to order.
We opted for wonderful fresh spring rolls and two shrimp dishes... one hot served with rice and the other cold with a mix of seafood, served with noodles. Servings were big, so even though we shared we had lots to take home. The atmosphere was friendly, clean and bright, but this is a place you go to for delicious, healthy food and good prices rather than atmosphere.
When I went I was glad I had noted the name and address because I drove right by it on my first pass! I knew it was north of I-694 on Silver Lake Road, but I made the mistake of expecting it to be obvious, maybe in a strip mall. It is set back hugging another building which hides it until you pass by when approaching from I-694 and doesn't have a big colorful sign... not so obvious.
Viet Noodles is located at 2020 Silver Lake Rd NW, New Brighton, MN 55112... in what looks like a former Dairy Queen with its distinctive red roof which definitely helps identify it. They are closed Mondays but otherwise open 10 am - 8 pm, and until 9 pm Friday and Saturday. No bar or wine, you can dine in or take out.
