Last night I had the pleasure of attending a preview of key trends for A/W 2013 at Merry Hill Shopping Centre. Autumn/Winter is definitely my favourite time of year. I'm not really a sunny baby at all, I much prefer leathers and knits. My heart will always lie with layering! (Sorry sunshine, your nice and all that and I would like you to stay for a little while longer. Thanks x)
I went with my lovely friend Sunny from Wardrobe Mag, massive loves to her dad for driving us there! Before the fashion show started, they had a few hair & beauty concessions from Boots along the side with little stands of new products for us to try out.
I've never used a Smashbox product before but I've been hearing more and more about the brand a lot recently, especially with beauty bloggers on youtube. I may be wrong here but I think Boots in Merry Hill is the only boots in the UK which stock Smashbox? I've never seen them anywhere else before? But anyway, the primers are one of Smashbox's best selling products and I was able to take home two samples to try out. I have quite uneven skin colouring at the moment with a lot of redness around my cheeks and nose as well as this I also get quite dry skin from time to time so the lovely Smashbox lady gave me a sample of the hydrate primer and the adjust primer. I'm thinking of doing a little review of them after I've used them up so I shall let you know how I got on with them.
Another brand I haven't used but heard lots about (and again is popular in the beauty blogger world) is Bumble and Bumble. I also received a sample of their thickening shampoo and conditioner which I can't wait to try out either.Max Factor were also there showing a preview of their new whipped creme Foundation which launches today! I love Max Factor products, they are one of my go to brands everytime I need something new so I was dead excited to see they were there too.
I've not used a creme foundation before, I just haven't liked how they looked on other people (gosh that sounds awful) but I think they go a little dry in certain areas so I've just always been put off. The Max Factor Whipped Creme Foundation is made with water and glycerine which keeps the skin looking hydrated and natural. It's such a bargain aswell, it's only £9.99, I have a little sample of this to try out aswell (samples galore!) which I'm really looking forward to trying out and again I may do a little review on this.
Thank you to Sunny for this picture!
This is me getting my foundation match by No.7 I've never seen this little gadget before but you hold it up to your skin and it tells you what colour foundation you are. Uh-mazing? Yeah I think so.After having a mooch around the beauty tables, having a little natter and a few drinks the show started.
There was 7 looks all together (although one of them isn't listed on the sheet, oops) the theme for this fashion show was obviously the biggest trend this A/W which is Monochrome. It has got me incredibly excited for those dark nights...
