Autumn Wreath

Today’s guest post is from the fantastic Lucy of Peas and Needles. After being a fan of  her blog for the past few years I discovered a couple of months ago that we have a very lovely friend in common, live near each other and are both into crafts, nature and recipes. So now we’re pals and I am delighted that she is taking part in our first birthday celebrations, with an idea for how to decorate your home for a party - with this beautiful hand made wreath.

Over to Lucy for the instructions:

What you will need:

-   Willow wreath

-   Felt in green and brown

-   Fabric / Buttons / Wool for decoration

-   Scissors

-   Glue gun and glue sticks

-   Twigs

Step one

Using the green and brown felt fabric, cut out many leaf shaped pieces. The amount you will need will depend on how much of the wreath you would like to cover.

Step two

Once your glue gun is warmed up and ready to go, start glueing the leaves to the wreath. It is best to start at the top and work down.

Step three

It is best to work both sides at the same time to result in an equal covering

Step four

Once you have finished glueing the leaves, you will need to decide how to make the center piece. The main attraction! Here are a few ideas of materials you could use.

Step five

For my center piece of the wreath I have cut out 6 larger leaf shaped pieces in contrasting fabric. For each of the ‘flower’s in the middle, you will need to cut out 6 circles of fabric, fold them into quarters and thread them onto a needle and pull tight. This will form the circular shape. Hot glue these where you would like them.

Step six

To be able to hang your wreath, you could either balance it on a nail or as I have done, plait 3 strips of fabric and tie around the wreath.

Step seven

For a more Autumnal look why not add some twigs!
