The Rogers Cup alternates back to Toronto this year from Montreal.
Canadian tennis is on a high: Last year, Milos Raonic became the first Canadian to reach the final since 1958, while Vasek Pospisil comes in off a good run in Washington. Peter Polansky and Frank Dancevic are no mugs and they get wild cards.
Back from the dead, Donald Young gets a special entry based on his form in Washington and Jack Sock also gets a wildcard coming off an 18-12 record this year. A four-time finalist, Roger Federer plays the event for the 11th time – and first since 2011. His name’s on the trophy so it would be apt if he could win this one for his 80th career title.

Defending Champion: Rafael Nadal – Withdrew due to a right wrist injury.
Nasty Floater: Ivo Karlovic – Hiding in plan sight in the draw and on form.
Up and Coming: Nick Kyrgios – Young Aussie’s Wimbledon heroics put him on the radar. Can he follow it up here?
Slumping: Andy Murray – We shall see if he has can recover his season but he loves the North American hard courts.
On Fire: Donald ‘Duck’ Young – Finally playing himself into form with a great run at Washington. Which Donald will show up here?
My pick: Novak Djokovic – Hard to bet against the world number 1 based on his dossier.
