Ryan Kwanten who plays Jason Stackhouse in HBO's True BloodRecently, reporter Clarissa Rappoport-Hankins wrote an article for The Atlantic about Jason Stackhouse and the role he plays to create stability within Bon Temps and True Blood.

While it became apparent that she may not have read the books that the HBO series is based on, she has some very valid points in regard to Jason and his lack of supernatural abilities. Everyone around him are either vampires, witches or weres of some description. Clarissa found the character of Jason Stackhouse (played by Aussie Ryan Kwanten) a rock in the midst of all the craziness. He is completely normal in every way, even if he has been repeatedly exposed to all sorts of influences.

Jason also holds an endearing figure of the deep south. True Blood tends to caricaturize the characters that are typically found to form the race we know affectionately as ‘Southerners,’ and he tends to be a gentle reminder of this.
