Last year, a man by the name of Ásgeir shattered records in Iceland by releasing the fastest selling debut album by a native artist. As of now, the album is approaching triple platinum status in Iceland, as the uprising artist works on an English version of that record. He is currently signed to UK-based label One Little Indian, alongside bands like Sigur Rós and Björk, and will release this single, “King And Cross” on August 13th. This track is beautifully chill, with a unique blend of acoustic, synth-pop, indie, r&b, and folk – though it is hard to classify this sound. Ásgeir croons a story (in English) over the mellow beat and spacey synths. Check out the single below, and if you enjoy this, look out for the b-side titled “Lupine Intrigue,” both due out in August.
