eek’s Artist on the Rise features the young and talented uprising star named Shawn Peter Raul Mendes, a Canadian musician born August 8, 1998 . This pop,soul and R&B singer was discovered online by Artist manager, Andrew Gertler, in January 2014, bringing him to Island Records. Once he was on board with Island Records, he released his first single “Life of the Party” in June 2014. Shawn is the youngest artist to debut in the top 25 with a debut song on the Billboard Hot 100s, at number 24 for the week ending July 12, 2014. A great start for the young man before his 16th birthday.
Mendes has produced three songs within his short time with Island records, along with “Life of the Party” his other productions are “Show You“, “One Of Those Nights” and “The Weight“. Although he’s had a remarkable year his debut song “Life of the Party” has taken the music world by storm. For most artists the road to stardom takes a few years if not decades, this young man achieved it in a matter of months as an online sensation.
Mendes also is currently on a nationwide tour with Austin Mahone and released his debut major label EP in July, with a debut album due out later in 2014.
