This week’s artist on the rise is Jacob Harris Miller. He is known by his stage name “Jake” Miller, born November 28, 1992 is an American, Pop, Rapper and Songwriter from Weston, Florida. This 21-year-old musician started his singing career in 2011 when he landed his first debut live performance, opening for rap legend Snoop Lion in Florida in 2011. Within the same year, Miller won the Samsung and T-Mobile USA national “Kick It With The Band” talent competition. Miller was awarded $35,000, which he used for his music career as well as a video with YouTube celebrity Keenan Cahill. This kicked off a whirlwind, which saw him opening for Mac Miller and performing alongside Flo Rida, and Asher Roth at the “Think Pink Rocks” concert, which benefited breast cancer awareness.
Naturally the most difficulties are in the beginning, as is for most artists. From his first performance, Miller has made his name known performing in concerts along with some of the world’s greatest artists. Making his presence known throughout the country, he’s performed with artists such as Cody Simpson, We the Kings. He performed live at the Orange Drive “Miami Beach Music Festival” on New Year’s Eve 2011, alongside the incredibly talented singers: Jason Derulo, Cee Lo Green, Ne-Yo, Gym Class Heroes and Cobra Starship. In 2012 Miller released his first EP Spotlight. A single from the EP, “What I Wouldn’t Give” hit the top 20 charts shortly after. He also released music videos for most songs off his EP including “Day Without Your Love” and “Runnin“. In 2013 Miller was signed by Eone music, releasing his EP “The Road Less Traveled” followed by his full album release “Us Against Them” shortly after.
In November of 2013 Miller announced that Warner Bros records signed him. On July 6, 2014, Miller released the lead single from his upcoming second studio album “First Flight Home”. On September 30, 2014, Miller announced that he would release a new EP called “Lionheart” on November 24, 2014. Miller may have started his career with a few small difficulties, but this artist is on his way to greatness. After the entire struggle his name now lies beside some of the greatest artists known throughout the country. As the years progress we can only expect great hits from this young man.
