Are Your Customers Dogs? People Skills

Anyone with multiple pets knows each one has a different set of characteristics – and inside each set of pets – dogs, cats, pigs, horses etc. – each individual one is unique and wonderful – just like people, just like your customers – just like you.


So how do we deal with them? Love and accept them? The best way I’ve found is exactly like they come – why is that easier with pets?


Pets have nothing except themselves and their needs – they give, love, listen and accept us – and we mostly do the same with them.


People want stuff – our time, attention, information. They sometimes they DEMAND stuff – and our customers are the worst – they come with their needs ready to be expressed.


What if you envisioned each of your customers in hair, fur or feathers? What if you looked at them like the wonderful, unique and highly individual being they are – like you do with your varied pets.


And the next time they irritate you simply say to yourself, “A customer is just a customer, like a cat is a cat and a dog is a dog. – I love them anyway because they share my life.”


Because your customers do – they share your life – and when we look at them with the eyes of love, acceptance and fun – they react like our pets – they wag and purr – and buy stuff too!


So today, treat your customers like you treat your pets – with patience and love – see what happens!


Remember you create your day by the way you think. Make it magnificent!
