It seems just yesterday, when the only things we could do with our mobile phones were just to call and text. This practice is now becoming obsolete due to the emergence of Smart phones. Mobile phones are now deemed “smart”, as they not only enable you to send and receive calls and text messages, they enable you to do a whole lot of things you need for entertainment purposes, keeping updated, connected and even pay our bills. Smartphones are now equipped with applicationssmart phone that enable us to surf the internet wherever and whenever we are (Sim-Only.co.uk), stay connected with friends through social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter), take a photo (Instagram) and post it online quickly and with ease, play games that entertain us to the max (Angry Birds, Scrabble), pay our bills (via Paypal), buy anything and read almost anything (thanks to Amazon).

Mobile phones are now app driven and can give us limitless possibilities. This is the primary reason why they are called Smartphones, but the question is, Is the user also smart?

With the thousands of apps available in the app market, using them efficiently and effectively can be an issue. And since most mobile phones are now in the form of Smartphones, user expertise on them is another issue. Most people do not possess mastery of their phones; here is some advice on how you can use your Smartphone to its optimum level.

Know how to use it mechanically

Know how to use your smartphone in a “mechanical manner”. Don’t limit yourself to knowing how to just turn it on and off. Smartphones possess complex technology that can help you avoid hefty payments once these are mastered.

Manners are Important

Smartphones are not exempt from phone etiquette. Since Smartphones are built with multimedia applications (that are complex at times) you have to still know when to turn them off and when to put the phone in silent mode. Phone manners are also important in your work meetings. If you are in an informal meeting, ask permission first. If you are in a business meeting, never attempt or try to sneak out to check on your Smartphone.

How to Send Messages Properly

Old mobile phones enabled us to send text messages; Smartphones now enable us to send messages via email anywhere, anytime. So try to evaluate how you send an email or any other type of message. Text abbreviations are not appropriate if you are sending an email, even if you are using a mobile phone to do so.

How to Use it With Social Media

With Twitter and Facebook just a click away, it is almost inevitable not to get

social
hooked. You might be spending more than one hour seeing posts and viewing profiles. Monitor how much time you spend with Facebook and other social media outlets and spend the same amount by visiting business pages and communicating with customers, clients, or coworkers. This way you can satisfy your personal Facebook needs without sacrificing business or other important endeavors.
