All skin types need a skin care routine that includes the step of moisturizing it. So whether you have dry, oily or a combination skin you need to help your skin.

With a zillion products available in the market one moisturizing cream does not suit all. The tricky part is to buy the right cream that suits your skin.

Here are a few tips to help you navigate yourself in the skincare aisle in the supermarket:

1) Oily Skin

Yes, oily skinned people also need moisture for their skin. Yes so the base or formula of the cream matters.

Choose a moisturizer that has a water base, one that is light and not heavy on the skin.

Test it on your hand. If it forms a greasy layer and seems heavy then it definitely is not right for oily skins.

Cetaphil is a mild moisturizer that suits most skin types, especially sensitive and oily skin.

2) Dry Skin

Creams should be the best friends of the dry skinned. As opposed to oily skins, the thicker, the heavier and greasier the better. Thick creams will be more effective as compared to thin lotions.

Use intense creams that heal and repair the skin. Moisturizers have to be used at all times, in night and day.

3) Sensitive Skin

People with sensitive skin should be more careful about the ingredients used in the making of their moisturizers. Avoid products with acidic ingredients that cause the skin to react. Instead opt for moisturizers with niacinamide that is an ingredient that calms the skin.

Neutrogena is a popular brand that manufacturer's moisturizers and face washes for sensitive skin.

4) Combination Skin

This is the most difficult skin type to purchase a product. Since the skin has different zones with different skin types, you might just need more than one product to moisturize your skin.

For example the oily 'T' zone will need moisturizer for oily skin and rest of the face might need a basic moisturizer.

The key is to manage a balance in the levels of moistures in all the areas of the face.

5) Aging Skin

Moisturizers that contain Retin-A or retinol or even fruit acids help in retaining moisture in aging skin.

If you still have any doubts as to which moisturizer to use for your skin, its best to call you dermatologist and find out which cream is best suited for your skin, tailored routine for your special needs.
