Announcing...

Hi all,
This is Joseph again. I know my weekly Monday post is a day late, but chock that one up to final exams and projects taking their toll. But I'm free as of this morning, free to do more work for the Solar Car team, and to make the announcement I promised last week.
As a team, besides building awesome solar-powered cars, we are committed to educating people about the use of alternative energy sources, as well as becoming involved in our local and provincial community. In keeping with these goals, the Calgary Solar Car Team is pleased to announce the "Schulich Axiom Alberta Tour"!
OK, so I'm sure you're all asking what this is... Basically, during the week of May 17th to the 23rd, the team is planning to take the car out on a "mock race" around Alberta, to improve our efficiency as a team in a race setting, and find any faults in our car, and correct them before ASC.
In addition, we are planning to visit a different city on each day of the tour, and show off the car at one (or more) schools in each city. In this way, school kids and their teachers in more rural and/or remote areas of the province will have the opportunity to see a fully-functioning solar-powered car, something that they might not have a chance to do otherwise!
More details will be given in next week's post (hopefully on Monday this time), including where we will be stopping on each day during the Alberta Tour!
In the meantime, now that exams are winding town, people are starting to drift back into the shop, to get the car ready for our big testing day this Saturday. We will taking Axiom up to a race track in Hanna do some high-speed testing (i.e. to see what she can really do!), and of course, to get more real-time experience for our four drivers.
