Well, now it seems Anna Paquin herself has confirmed Rutger Hauer has indeed returned to the True Blood set with the following recent tweet:

I wonder how Niall’s storyline will conclude in Season 7? Will it involve more hilarious one liners between Niall and his ‘embarrassing’ grandson Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten)? Does this suggest that Niall will be needed to fight yet another evil fairy? Maybe Niall will be one of the characters returning in a flashback this season? Or did Rutger Hauer merely drop by the set and Anna is just stirring the pot with her comment on Twitter?
