Already an established composer of concert music as composer-in-residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and a composer of a number of high profile commissions Anna Meredith has been recently applying classic compositional techniques to her odd brand of electronica. On her last EP, Black Prince Fury, Meredith explored electronic music through orchestral samples. On “Orlok” a 7 minute composition from her forthcoming Jet Black Raider EP, Meredith sounds a bit like James Blake remixed Philip Glass’ Einstein On The Beach while working with Baroque harmonies that build to a chiptune climax.
