A couple of weeks ago, I outed myself as a sugar addict. Someone who, for much of my life, found it near impossible to walk past the biscuit barrel or lolly jar without helping myself to a handful. Then, within minutes, I’d be back for more and still always I’d be hungry. Famished, never full.
Although I’ve been sugar-free before at other times in my life, I made the decision that this time, it needs to be for real. This is something that I’ve chosen for me, for better health and for life.
Today marks 2 weeks into the sugar-free journey and so far, it’s going pretty well and the positives are certainly winning! I’m enjoying big hearty meals with meats, cheeses, wholegrain carbs and fresh veges. Fruit is coming close to satisfying sugar cravings (close-ish, sigh, but I have not caved!) and I’m no longer forever hungry. After a meal I’m feeling satisfied and not desperate to devour chocolate or icecream. The headaches are occuring less frequently (just goes to show how addiciton can grab you) and although I’m drinking more coffee than I should (that’ll be the nexxt habit to break) I’m feeling in control. Yay me!! Oh, and I’ve lost a kilo too
So there you have it. A fortnight at a time. Bit, by bit but forever.
What’s something that you’ve given the flick? How did it go for you? I’d love to hear!
