Buddhists, the followers of Gautam Buddha, are one of the most peaceful people in the world. It is a religion that preaches only love and non-violence. And this can truly be felt in the monasteries, where followers of this religion, who preach about it, spend their days in “nirvana”. A few weeks back, I had the chance to spend an evening among these wonderful people in a small monastery, located on one of the hill-tops of Shillong. The climb was breathtaking, but at the end, when the destination was reached, it was entirely worth it. One could actually feel the calmness of the place and listen to one’s own soul. The people there were wonderful. The communication was bit of a problem as they did not understand any of the languages I spoke, and I did not understand their’s, but yet, with their expressions and gestures, one could easily make out how warm and welcoming they were. It was truly a blissful experience.
