If you’re into the pop-rock, alternative, or indie music I’ve been posting then today’s song will throw you off. Every now and then I like to go back to the 70′s for some classic rock to appeal to everyone’s liking. Today’s single hit the charts in 1973.

Amie was released in August of 1972 from the album Bustin’ Out. It went to #27 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and #40 in Canada. The lyrics describe a man who’s trying to convince his ex-girlfriend to come back even though she found someone else. He was controlling in the relationship and now that she’s gone, he sees his faults. He then asks what she wants to do but listeners don’t know what she decides.

However, the end of the song shows uncertainty with his feelings for her because he says, Don’t know what I’m gonna do, I’d keep fallin’ in and out of love with you.

It seems like this relationship is better left in the past…
