ECHO YACHT is a very young brand, but with over forty years of history. The company is made up of people who have acquired considerable know-how in the nautical field. The decision to launch a new model, called AMERICA 35, was dictated by requests from many customers asking whether it was possible to buy an AMERICA 30.
The AMERICA 30 was a project conceived by thenaval engineer Giuseppe Ciminowho launched this model on the market in 1983. It was a sub-10-meter walkaround with state-of-the-art features and a top speed of 42 knots. The model was an immediate success, and its market price is still very attractive today.
On this basis, the AMERICA 35 is born, a walkaround that takes up the specific features of the AMERICA 30 with a modern, innovative restyling.
We met with Ciro Carnevaleowner of the ECHO YACHT shipyard, at the Genoa International Boat Show, to ask him to describe the ECHO YACHT project and its main features.
“Echo comes from the Greek; indeed, we wanted to take up the concept of the past coming back, as we wanted to offer a product with important roots, while being innovative both aesthetically and practically – explained Ciro My lifelong passion for the sea led me to offer the market a boat that didn’t exist, based on a nautical success story. And so the AMERICA 35 was born.
The AMERICA 35 in detail
One of the innovations we most appreciated on board the AMERICA 35 was the aft platform, which partly conceals the outboard motors, and is topped by a huge 1.8-metre sunbed that can be raised electrically if required. This solution has been designed to improve and guarantee a constant flow of air to the engines. The platform can also be moved, providing ample access to both outboards, facilitating their maintenance and/or replacement. Another important function of the platform lies in its ability to stabilize the boat during stops or when at anchor, as by descending 5 cm below water level, it creates a surface capable of stabilizing the boat with impressive efficiency.
In addition to the large sundeck at the stern, the AMERICA 35 offers another large sundeck at the bow. The shipyard has managed to find space for a double sofa, one facing forward and the other surrounding the entire bow. It is also possible to install a table, creating a space of great conviviality that can be shaded with different solutions if required.
In the center of the boat, we find a practical bar equipped with sink and induction hob. The T-top overhanging the center of the boat is well-proportioned, and at its aft end is installed a sunshade cloth to shade the whole area. The space between the sunbathing area and the center cabinet accommodates two substantial chairs, offering comfortable dining thanks to a retractable table that can be set up for easy seated conversation.
Another extremely clever detail that we really appreciated on theAMERICA 35 is the difference in height created between the two gangways. On the right-hand side, there are two steps to access the bow, while on the left-hand side, the gangway is level. This provides an unusual sanitary side height for an 11-meter boat, and enabled the shipyard to integrate an opening porthole to ventilate the area and create an air renewal often impossible to achieve on boats of this type.
The helm console is equipped with a seat in three different positions and, in addition to being protected by the T-Top, is sheltered from the wind by a very high windshield designed by the shipyard. The dimensions of the dashboard allow for the installation of a single large screen or two 12″ screens, positioned above the steering wheel at an excellent angle, for immediate reading of all navigation data, even in sunlight. The choice of integrating the control panel on the right-hand side, next to the steering controls, is optimal as it allows you to control the entire boat from a single location. Winch, batteries, pumps, lights and alarms are clearly marked for easy identification.
Interiors
The interior of the AMERICA 35 is certainly what you wouldn’t expect from a boat of these dimensions, because here the shipyard has made the most of every inch. Thanks to the decision to increase the maximum beam by opening up the V of the hull, two major advantages have been achieved: on the one hand, greater interior space and, on the other, a much smoother, more pleasant impact on the wave when sailing.
It is possible to have a double island bed in the bow (on this model exhibited at the Show, the version with a convertible V-shaped sofa), a large bathroom with shower, separate toilet, a bed in the stern and a large closet on the left, allowing a family to live comfortably on board even for several days. The two side windows, combined with the portholes, illuminate the entire area, making the interior very pleasant, thanks also to the light colors chosen by the Echo shipyard for this model.
The AMERICA 35 is not only a walkaround, but also a boat with a wealth of design experience, and on board we find all the know-how acquired in 40 years of nautical construction. A concentrate of engineering which, in addition to having all-important maritime features, is also a boat capable of satisfying a wide range of needs, whether for a day at sea, a weekend or a longer vacation.
The model we visited at the Italian boat show was powered by two Mercury 400 V10s capable of speeds of up to 45 knots. The shipyard also offers the option of installing two 450 hp engines for even more adrenalin. Ample space at just over 11 meters, habitability both inside and out, and ease of engine maintenance are just some of the features that make the AMERICA 35 such a successful boat.
