Amazon to Ship 3 Million Fire Phones by the End of 2014

Last week, Amazon announced its first smartphone, called the Fire Phone. The handset comes with a number of interesting features and some great specs, and it’s expected to go on sale in July. According to a new report from Digitimes, Amazon will sell around three million devices by the end of the year.

Although Amazon’s phone won’t have that much of an impact on the smartphone market, the initial shipment amounts to 300-500 thousand units a month, which is still an impressive number.

In case you’ve missed it, the Fire Phone comes with with a 4.7in screen and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera (with a five-element lens and OIS). You can get the Fire Phone with either 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. It supports 4G LTE and runs Fire OS 3.5, the same operating system used on the Kindle Fire tablets.
