Amazing Things to See in Boston

By Wickedying @wickedying

With all the gorgeous areas in Europe, North America can sometimes fall by the wayside. America is a massive and diverse country, full of countless cultures and all kinds of opportunities for adventure. One particularly interesting city is Boston, Massachusetts. Just like any city, it has its own distinctive character, and a number of things you simply can’t find anywhere else. Here are some of the things you simply have to see.

If you’re into astronomy, then Boston certainly has a treat for you. Every Wednesday, the Coit Observatory at Boston University is open to the public. Here, you can come in and gaze at some truly stunning images of the stars. You’ll be listening to an expert map out constellations, and tell you some truly mind-boggling facts about the processes going on in our galaxy and the ones beyond it. The demonstration lasts about an hour, but if that’s not enough for you, then head over to the museum of science. This also has its own observatory, and a variety of wonderfully kept exhibits. With all the different things to see here, you’re sure to get your fill of brain food!

My next tip is to jump on board one of the many tours offered in Boston. Although a fascinating place, Boston’s tourism trade isn’t exactly booming. In order to soak up what the city is really made of, I urge you to look for some quirky, off-beat tours. One of the more unique ones is Boston Lobster Tours. On these, you and up to three friends can hop aboard a real lobster boat, and see the processes that go on in its day-to-day operations. If you want something a little more slow-paced, then you might enjoy one of the city’s popular wine tours. Whatever your tastes, these are the best way to experience the city. Many of them run from the central area of Boston, so make sure you find a conveniently placed hotel with Hotwire

Most cities are full of wonder, but the environment itself can be a little too much for some people. If you want to get away from it all for a day, then I recommend Castle Island Park. This a costal park located on the south side of Boston, and stretches over 22 acres. If you’re into history, then this is something you definitely don’t want to miss out on. It’s one of the oldest fortified military sites in the whole of North America! The centrepiece of Castle Island is Fort Independence. This is a massive granite structure, completed in the 1850s. Various other forts have stood in the area, passing between American and British control over the war of independence. A trip around here is potent and fascinating.

There you have just a few of the amazing things you can see and do in Boston. Once you’ve tried some of these, ask some of the locals what they recommend. You’ll be absolutely astounded by the interesting things which were right under your nose!
