The word “loneliness” has been creeping in my mind over the past few days. Today’s song doesn’t really talk about being lonely, but wanting to be alone with someone who’s always busy or with other people.
Alone was released in May of 1987 from the band’s ninth album, Bad Animals. The song was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. They had also written hits for other artists including Madonna’s “Like A Virgin,” Whitney Houston’s “So Emotional,” and The Bangles’ “Eternal Flame.”
The single went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and on Canada’s Adult Contemporary charts. It also made the top 5 in Ireland, Sweden, United Kingdom, and Norway.
