All Kinds of Hiccups

By Salvagedspaces @salvagedspaces
All Kinds of Hiccups I can always tell when Lucy has the hiccups. My stomach moves like it has its own heart beat and then Lucy starts to do the hiccup dance. Turns out it's contagious because I got a hiccup of my own yesterday.
Do you remember my goal to work on my blog every day for 100 days? To keep track of my progress, I created Ellie the Elephant to color in for each day. Here's Ellie to this day:
All Kinds of Hiccups
I've done something to my blog (whether it's a post, design, or networking) for 50 days straight. I was feeling pretty good about myself until I woke up this morning. I realized that I did not do anything for the blog yesterday. Nothing! Zip! Nada!
I don't like to make excuses, but here's why I failed yesterday:
I woke up at my usual time: 5:00am. Got ready, drove an hour to work in rush hour, sat in meetings and appointments all day, had lunch with some friends, drove back at 5:00pm during rush hour, went out to eat, then got back home at 8:00pm and completely crashed on the couch. I think Lucy's hiccups, or her 8 1/2 month body, is starting to wear me out.
It's been a challenge finding ways to manage my time, but Pete and I are working on some ways to fix that this week. Pete's really great at picking up my slack, but he's also been slammed this week with his last exams of his college career (I am so proud of him!!).
We may have missed a day, but I can assure you that we haven't gone anywhere. And if it is quiet around here, it's probably because my fingers are too swollen to type or I just really, really want to enjoy a book in my favorite rocker that we inherited:
All Kinds of Hiccups
Pete's mom used this rocker when all of her kids were young and it's been my favorite piece of furniture we've gotten so far. It's not only beautiful solid wood, but it's surprisingly comfortable and I can't wait to rock Lucy in it. In the meantime, I have been enjoying reading my books in it and sitting in it to write blog posts.
My apologies for skipping a day. I'm sure no one noticed, but I'd feel dishonest if I just pretended like nothing happened. I'll try not to make it a habit!
