Pink is one of the rarest-known sapphire gems. With the rarest of all being names padparadscha. Which is a name that comes from the Sanskrit. It's their word for the lotus flower.
Naturally, sapphires are among the most durable gemstone elements in the world. Gems are rated on their ability to resist scratching and withstand circumstances based on a system called the Mohs Scale. On that scale, sapphires should score a 9 out of 10 because the only natural thing that can scratch a sapphire is a diamond. The durability of this gem makes them the number one choice for a stone in the center of a ring.
