With party season in full swing, my hair needed some major oomph - the kind of oomph that would take me from event to event without having to restyle (or worse, re-wash) constantly.
For this not-so-easy feat, I headed to Agostino Salon, the newest outpost from Master Stylist Agostino Lombardi. The salon quietly opened on Charles Street last summer, and already has a devoted following and an impressive slew of five-star reviews.
Inside, the sleek white-on-wood interior stands in contrast to the quintessentially Bostonian brownstones and antiques shops just outside in Beacon Hill. Lining the shelves at the front of the salon are the full range of products from Living Proof and Oribe, two strong lines that immediately got me excited about the experience to come.
I chatted with Agostino about the cut and shape I wanted, and then it was off to the massage chairs for a shampoo and Oribe deep conditioning treatment that left my hair buttery soft. (Yes, you read that right - they flip on the massage chair while your hair is being washed. Heaven is a place on earth.)
A quick Google search pre-appointment revealed that Agostino is somewhat of a hair whisperer - he's known for deftly assessing hair thickness, type, texture at a glance and designing the perfect cut accordingly.
Just as expected, Agostino expertly snipped away as we chatted, crafting light layers that really play up the balayage I had done over the summer. It's amazing the added layers of depth and color-play that some cleverly placed cuts can add, no bleach or dye needed.
From there, stylist Rami Chahine took over the styling. He specializes in crafting beautiful, soft curls that he achieves sans the extreme heat of an iron. Not to mention that he is the go-to stylist for a slew of celebrity clientele in his native Beirut, Lebanon.
