I think the twenty second dress in my flouncy advent calendar of DOOM is exceedingly Christmassy as it incorporates and, indeed, makes full use of that most Christmassy of color combinations – green and gold. Lovely isn’t it!
This particular dress was born as a ball gown by the fabulously wealthy Mrs Caroline Schermerhorn Astor Wilson, daughter of THE Mrs Astor and I can imagine that she caused quite a stir whenever she stepped out in it. I mean, just imagine those profusions of gold sequins glimmering softly in candlelight and the swoosh of those delicately elegant skirts. It’s just too beautiful.
In other news, I am STILL ill and fit for nothing but lying on the sofa watching Foyle’s War, which is totally superb. I took the day off yesterday though to travel to Hampshire for the annual Christmas meet up with our respective families, which was rather nice. I’m glad to be home though!
