Maybe I’ve been inspired by all the production shots of the Downton Abbey Christmas special that have been floating about the place, but I just really fancied featuring a really gorgeous 1920s ‘flapper’ style dress of the type that Lady Rose would wear on an illicit visit to a smokey underground jazz club in Soho on the blog advent calendar today.
What do you think of the one I picked out? Don’t you just love that really on trend pink/purple ombre effect and that wonderfully elegant beading? When I was much younger, I once came downstairs wearing a rather spectacular silver sequin covered dress that left very little to the imagination. My mother took one look at me and said ‘There’s a difference between a dress and a frock and THAT, my dear, is definitely a FROCK.’ And so is this. Not that there’s anything wrong with that – let’s all revel in its frockishness as this is definitely a dress to rock out and have some really fabulous champagne cocktail fueled FUN in.
