I keep exploring the ways and activities to engage my kids once they are back from school. Work schedule, School Homework, Household chores leave very little time for me to spend with my child. Sometimes I think it's with everyone we all are running the same race. I have to keep activities ready and plan them on every month basis to engage my child in her free time at home and where we can spend some time together. So, that during house hold chore or trying to meet client's deadline I am assured she is learning and having fun at the same time. I never wish my child to keep watching TV all the time or play games on the Tab. So I planned some activity based learning or play based learning and fun activities with her. Today, I am sharing some of the play based activities which not only support my child in terms of engagement But, she will also learning and can enhance her skills. I am sharing some Indoor game Ideas, Green finger activity, Little Masterchef activity, Little Picasso some DIY, Arts and Crafts and Magic Joey Augmented reality based learning.
So here is our August month Activities we planned at home. So as she has school s these activities are after school and weekend fun time-based learning for her. For planning these activities I have quick tips for you.
- Involve your child while planning play-based learning activities.
- Make her understand the importance of activities and the learning outcome from it.
- Make sure you do not push any activity on her.
- Give names to all activities.
- Make a Calendar for the activities on paper or on your system.
Here we share the activities we planned for our little fairy.
Indoor Games and treasure hunt:
Every Friday Night me and my husband we keep 5 clues with just one word at 5 different places. For example, we created one activity with Paper Chits with clue to next step Chair > Dining table > Kitchen > Spoon > Freezer = Answer was Ice cream. So as It was the weekend, Saturday afternoon kids had Ice cream treat.
As well as we keep bringing new puzzle game etc other such games where we sit together and play.
Little green finger :
The gardening activity my daughter loves the most. She enjoys watering plants and re-potting the plants in new pots. So we do this watering activity every day she takes good 30 minutes to take out the yellow leave and water the pots. Once she is done with this I go and check. This helps her remain engage and stay close to nature.
Little Masterchef activity :
Kitchen activity we do only on Sunday. Although she helps me in Kitchen chores every now and then. But, I keep this activity where she independently performs and makes something for Mumma and Papa. We do not allow her to cook on Gas stove and chopping etc. We provide her all the material ready for her use and we show her how this is to be done before she begin. Then she takes her 1 hour and comes up with something amazing looking and yummy dish.
Little Picasso - DIY, Crafts and Arts:
My daughter loves Crafts and Art activity. We ordered some online DIY kits for her and a subscription box for the month. This Subscription box is a great way of learning and it's again activity based and age appropriate. So entire kit has complete set includes paper, glue, pasting and cutting material etc. So As a Mom, I am set I don't have to run around to find the missing item to complete the activity. This activity is a good example of Play based learning where a child is engaged for good amount of time.
