Aching muscles – it’s no laughing matter

It was quite funny at first. A few hours after bootcamp this week, the effects of what seemed like a million squats started to make themselves felt. I hobbled. I wobbled. I struggled to go up the stairs. Or down them. Sitting down involved dropping from a great height and hoping I didn’t bounce back into a standing position.

Three days on, however, it’s a different matter. I’m still hobbling and wobbling and struggling to get about. I have the gait of an old lady. I think maybe I am an old lady.

All of which would still be most amusing except that I’m supposed to be racing tomorrow. In a head race.

Any outing where you’re in pain before you begin is bad enough, so a head race where you can barely lower yourself into the boat is a pretty horrifying prospect.

So I’m throwing it out there. If you have any magic tricks up your sleeve to cure me in the space of 24 hours, I’m all ears. Just don’t ask me to bend down to listen to them.
