Eliminating the stigma and shame surrounding abortion
Sharing abortion stories; Why should women be judged when they choose something so emotionally challenging as ending a pregnancy? What right does anyone have to make comments on such a personal subject?
The stigma attached to abortion needs to be stamped out.
Women choose to end a pregnancy for many reasons, they are neither irresponsible nor selfish and each woman has her own story behind her experience.
Whether the pregnancy was planned or not, every woman has the right to decide if she wishes to proceed with a pregnancy, it is her physical and mental health that will take the strain and only she knows what the right choice is.
Until you have been faced with such a choice, you have no right to voice your opinions on a matter you clearly do not understand. Have you ever been faced with such a difficult decision? If the answer is no, then how can you say it is wrong?
I do not believe any women can have an abortion and not be emotionally effected, the turmoil a women faces both pre and post abortion is great. Counselling is therefore offered before and after the procedure, although many do not comply due to feelings of guilt and shame.
We should talk about abortion, it should not be a taboo topic in this day and age and women should never feel ashamed of making a choice that at that time was right for them.
Please note that the abortion stories shared on the blog are real life experiences and many cause upset to some. They may contain graphic detail *
