A Whiter Shade of Pale

By Fairlylight

I am in need of a little advice today and am hoping you can help. I’m trying to pick a neutral shade for the spare bedroom and just can’t decide! In the moodboard for this room I opted for Farrow and Ball’s Shaded White but now I think it might be a tad too drab. wimborne whiteImage source: Houzz.com

And so enter Wimbourne White shown here on painted panelling, or perhaps a few layers of Pointing as seen on these gorgeous kitchen cupboards.

Now the room in question is east facing and is flooded with daylight from sunrise to around 11am, then the light is less easy to come by. I want the room to feel warm but want to avoid a yellowish neutral as I want it to be more white than cream. Ones with a green or blue base are also out as I don’t want the room to appear to stark either! Overall I want the result to be calming with a tiny hint of ‘sludginess’ more commonly found in a posh bistro pub.

Also on the list of possibilities, is the bright and clean Strong White which provides a stunning backdrop to the gorgeous store, Folklore.

And finally I am loving Slipper Satin which seems to be a suitable off-white in this beautiful image from Yvestown

I am open to using a paint outside of the Farrow and Ball range, but am hoping for a Homebase discount offer over the next bank holiday so I can save a few pence! Would love for you to share any neutrals that you think might be ideal for the space.
