What's more spectacular in spring than a nice walk in one of the many aristocratic villas in Italy? The temporary good weather- during last week -allowed me to go for a walk in a place that I love very much: Villa Carlotta on Lake Como.In this enchanting place you can visit the museum as well as the park that is managed by 13 full-time gardeners: it collects many types of plants. During the spring there is a show of colours with all the flowers and this takes your breath away. Believe me, to walk in that beautiful park is like being in a paradise of rare beauty.

The villa was commissioned in late 1600 by Giorgio Clerici: he wanted to have a sober but graceful villa surrounded by a garden in Italian style with the statues and the fountains. It was with Gian Battista Sommariva in the XIX century that the villa reached its maximum splendor. He wanted to transform the garden into a unique place with some art works of Canova, Thorvaldsen and Hayez. The next owner, lover of gardens, developed one more time the beautiful park. Today there are over 150 species of the plants but the beautiful flowering azaleas are the main attraction of this park. The sun, the beautiful flowers and the context of the lake make this place wonderful. Every time I walk in this beautiful garden I look around me and I admired how, in this place, the nature and the art coexist well together creating a unique set. I took some photos: the effect is more impressive if you are there but I'd like to show this amazing place for who is far away and can not visit it immediately. Good virtual walk!

Cosa c’è di più spettacolare in primavera che una bella passeggiata in una delle numerose ville nobiliari che sono presenti in Italia? Il momentaneo bel tempo di scorsa settimana mi ha permesso di tornare a passeggiare in un luogo che amo molto : Villa Carlotta sul Lago di Como. In questo luogo incantevole potrete visitare il museo ma soprattutto il parco che è curato da ben 13 giardinieri a tempo pieno: raccoglie varie tipologie di piante e in primavera è uno spettacolo floreale da togliere il fiato. Credetemi, passeggiare in quel magnifico parco è come essere in un paradiso di rara bellezza. La villa venne commissionata alla fine del 1600 da Giorgio Clerici: il suo desiderio era di avere una dimora imponente ma sobria e circondata da un giardino all’Italiana con statue e fontane. Fu con Gian Battista Sommariva nell’Ottocento che la villa raggiunse il massimo splendore. Questo proprietario volle trasformare il giardino in un luogo unico aggiungendovi opere d’arte del Canova, Thorvaldsen e Hayez. Anche il successivo proprietario, amante dei giardini, sviluppò il meraviglioso parco. Oggi troviamo oltre 150 specie di piante ma soprattutto rimarrete incantati dalla fioritura delle splendide azalee. Il sole, i magnifici fiori e il contesto del lago rendono questo luogo fantastico. Ogni volta che passeggio nello splendido giardino mi guardo intorno ammirata e penso come, in questo luogo, la natura e l’arte convivano egregiamente creando un insieme unico. Ho fatto un po’ di foto: sicuramente di persona l’effetto è più suggestivo ma mi piacerebbe mostrare queste bellezze e chi è lontano e non può visitarle nell’immediato. Buona passeggiata virtuale!
