A Sneak Peak at Autumns Must Have Boots

By Cleverbuttons @cleverbuttons

Hi All,

Autumn is finally here, the leaves are starting to fall from the trees and there is a definite nip in the air. I for one couldn’t be more excited as I love this time of year not just for the autumn sunshine, but because I can bring out the oversized jumpers, ear muffs and boots. So I thought todays post should be dedicated to the humble and autumn staple = the boot.

I for one can’t live without a wide variety of boots in my shoe collection, from knee high leather ones through to pixie boots worn with lace ankle socks. I don’t know about you, but for me they are the epitome of functional fun fashion.

The high rise boot

Everyone needs a comfortable and fun pair of knee high boots for autumn and winter, they scream warmth and sex appeal – which let’ face it is all we need at the end of the day. When picking winter boots I always opt for real leather as they last longer and mold to your feet rather than constricting them. For this year I have picked this pair from Jones the Bootmaker as my favourites. They are stylish, as the name suggests and they are perfect for work, rest and play. When spending more money on boots, I want to get the maximum wear from them and this is just what these will give me.

I always start off by teaming my knee boots with skinny jeans, it is a great everyday marriage and perfect for keeping you warm; as someone who feels the cold this is high on my priority list. This pair offers me the flexibility to wear over jeans and leggings as they have a solid zip fastening – I hate it when boots roll down during the day.

The pixie version

Unlike how I choose my knee high winter boots, when it comes to pixie boots I tend to opt for the bright and bold. I wear them in a completely different manner, generally not to the office, often just as an everyday boot to throw on with an autumnal dress. I will usually spend less money on them also, so they don’t generally last as long, but this works for my style and I know that won’t be the same for everyone.

When looking for any ankle boot, I always opt for checking out what is coming up in this seasons trends. Again the opposite of the knee high boot as they never go out of style. This season’s pixie boot is bright and I mean BRIGHT! From reds though to monochrome; the reality is that anything goes. I am opting for reds and oranges, to keep in line with autumnal colours but you can really have some fun with this trend.

The heels are getting higher

heeled boots

I know this may sound odd, but I only own one pair of heeled boots and I am looking to rectify this. As I was not blessed with height, I rely on heels for nights out and sometimes for work too, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Balmain’s latest heeled boots have gone really HIGH! I am no aficionado of the heeled boot, so I am opting for 4 inch heels or less, at least to start off with. For me, heeled boots are all about the evening, worn for those chilly nights at the bar, or a dinner date and theater. They are all about dram and fun, so I am going all out with a patent leather pair this year. Avoiding over the knee for fear of looking to ‘Pretty Woman’, I will be looking for the perfect pair of knee highs, with a block heel.
