A Promising Handset: LG G Pro 2

LG launched its new phablet, the G Pro 2, ten days before the Mobile World Congress and it’s already selling in Korea. The US and Europe will be able to purchase this smartphone in March and April.

LG launched its new phablet, the G Pro 2.

The G Pro 2 is the successor to the Optimus G Pro.

The LG G Pro 2 comes with a 5.9in IPS display and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2.26GHz, and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The G Pro 2 features impressive 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, which you can expand thanks to a microSD slot (up to 64GB).

On its back is a 13-megapixel camera with enhanced optical image stabilization (OIS+), autofocus and LED flash, that can shoot 4208 x 3120 pixel photos. It can also record 4K videos @30 fps, 1080p videos @ 60fps and 720p@120fps. On the inside is a 3,200mAh battery.

The G Pro 2 measures 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3 mm, weighs 172 grams and is made entirely of plastic. It has a glossy finish and an almost non-existent pattern on its back. The G Pro 2 is available in titan, white and silver.

The phablet comes with an interesting new feature, the so-called Knock Code, which allows you to unlock the phone with a combination of taps on its screen. In terms of connectivity, there’s dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, DLNA, GPRS, Bluetooth 4.0 etc.

Without contract, the G Pro 2 costs 999,900 KRW in Korea – that is around €680.
