25th March 2013
Mark Niemierko, the leading event and wedding planner, hosted the who’s who within the UK’s wedding industry to celebrate the arrival of Oscar de la Renta’s bridal collection to London.
The champagne and canapés reception was held within the famed American designer’s first London store, located on Mount Street, in London’s most elegant shopping district Mayfair, on the evening of Thursday 21st March.
Invited guests were welcomed by Mark Niemierko into the store, which for one night only showcased all of Oscar de la Renta’s bridal collections across the spaces three floors. For Niemierko Oscar gets it right, every time. As Mark comments “a bride should always feel like themselves on their wedding day, yet in a timeless fashion. Through elegant designs Oscar de la Renta’s bridal gowns stand the test of the time, however still manage to each have a unique sense of style and personality.”
Chilled Pommery champagne was served along with delicious canapés from the creative chefs at Mustard Catering. Including a black pepper macaroon with whipped goats cheese, beetroot and truffle honey and Foie gras terrine with peach chutney and truffle brioche. Heavenly.
The sweet side to the evening was showcased in the lower ground part of the store. Male-model waiters stood handsomely around a sweet table full of lollipops, marshmallows, white chocolate snowies, milk bottles, bon bons and a selection of Laduree macaroons. Indulgent guests snuck off with sweet treat bags to enjoy their goodies on their way home.
Florist and a firm friend of Niemierko Rob Van Helden was on hand to fill the store with Colombian white hydrangeas inspired by the campaign for Oscar de la Renta’s first bridal fragrance “Something Blue”.
“Something Blue” is a floral fragrance. Fresh, light, and romantic, plus it was inspired by stephanotis flowers plucked directly from de la Renta’s home in the Dominican Republic.
The Something Blue bottle cap is made of a rare blue Larimar stone that can only be found in the designer’s native Dominican Republic. The design of the box is a replica of a white lace and blue organza Oscar de la Renta gown from his current Bridal collection.
Keeping with the Something Blue theme Booth Nation turned their Gold Glitter Booth into the “Something Blue Booth”, along with a hydrangea photo backdrop.
The entertainment for the evening was provided by string quartet Estilo Strings who played for the first hour of the evening. Followed by the voice of Kelli-Leigh, who serenaded guests on the first floor. Kelli had just returned from LA having performed at this year’s Academy Awards as backing singer for Adele, during her performance of Skyfall.
It was all too much chicness for a Thursday evening. On departure invited guests were handed an Oscar de la Renta gift bag which included one of the famous fashion house’s fragrances and an exclusive set of Niemierko greeting cards, with images of past Niemierko Brides wearing Bridal gowns by Oscar.
