A Lovely Day in the Italian Language.

By Xxlauraxx @all4italy

italian vocabularyIt  is a lovely day, a song says. Actually any time of day can be pleasant. A day in Italian language? “Drin” that’s the alarm clock= sveglia , it's time to get up. Ok let's say that this may be the  most  complex moment in the day. We go to  the kitchen for our cup of coffee: I can not start without my cup of coffee! The morning = la mattina begins. go to work. Usually the hours in the morning go fast and when we feel  our stomach rumblings = brontolii , the noon = mezzogiorno is arrived. It is time for the lunch break = pausa pranzo . After eating I would like to take a nap = fare un pisolino but I think it could be not even thinkable. At  16:00  is tea or coffee time: if you are still children is the fateful time for the tea/ snack = merenda! What envy! When I was 10 years old I ate,  I went to school and I played- no mortgage, no stress, no my boss, no meetings ... how nice! Ok stop  the nostalgia. At 17:00   there is a moment that I found through the poetry of Leopardi precisely the poetry “ the Saturday in the village”. I'm talking about the hour of vespers = vespri. From the Catholic point of view is one hour linked to the evening prayer, in my imagination it is the time that marks the beginning of the sunset = tramonto  and then the arrival of the evening. Some people think this  moment  is  sad. Other people – I’m one of them - love when the sky changes the color and it amazes all with an incredible show. The sky darkens and the first stars appear, the path is slow but the night = notte is coming. In a few hours we will start again with a new day  and it will always be a lovely day.
