Today I'm talking sport, food, entertainment, and all around family fun, in the form of Lane7 Boutique Bowling Alley in Newcastle.
I've been wanting to visit this place for a while now, after seeing a number of glowing reviews of the place across social media (as you may already know, it was also on my Summer to do list post a few weeks back).
As Sunday was my younger sister's 18th birthday, (by God did that make me feel old), the family decided to take a trip to Lane7 to celebrate.
The place itself is smaller than you'd imagine for the sheer amount of amenities. 8 lanes of bowling, a restaurant, four pool tables, three ping pong tables, a karaoke room and two bars, all under one roof. The menu itself was pretty standard, price-wise. I loved the quirky little clipboard and bulldog clip style though.
The interior of the place is absolutely stunning. A really refreshing change of pace from the normal dimly lit, strobe lighting, loud music bowling alley.
We were placed on lane 2, and as most bowling places do, our names were limited to 5 characters, which caused endless amusement on the behalf of my Mam, Janic, and my sister's boyfriend, Andre.
After a hectic game, one in which I was actually in the lead at one point, my Dad managed to thrash us all. (I was a respectable third place!) It was then time for a late lunch in the restaurant.
In true American diner style, the food was served on trays, and in various cups, glasses, tins and buckets. I ordered the double cheeseburger, pictured above, which was absolutely huge, but delicious!
After lunch, it was upstairs for an hour of American pool. We all managed to play two games each, with the birthday girl going first, and getting a fluke win through her opponent accidentally potting the black ball.
I managed to squeeze in a couple of decent shots, not that I'm very good at pool to begin with, but I still lost both of my two games, the first, due to me playing Troy, and him being a 10x better player than I, and the second due to me potting the black.
After pool, we celebrated a successful day with some gorgeous milkshakes!
My Mam got a banana and chocolate shake, and Zoe a coconut and chocolate. Troy bought the most bizarre one of us all, his containing a shot of bourbon, peanut butter, and bacon bits! I stuck with the classic Mia Wallace strawberry, which was amazing.
On the way out, we managed to cram five of us into the vintage Photo Booth in the lobby to take a few silly photos!
Happy Birthday, Zoe!Overall, we had a pretty amazing day. A successful day out and a successful 18th birthday! And I can vouch that Lane7 is definitely a place worth visiting if you're out and about in Newcastle.
