Finally I can check Amsterdam on my places-I-visited list, since last week we had the time and special occassion (to read 'birthday') to go there. Amsterdam is around 200 something km North from where I live now(Maastricht) so we took the train early in the morning - a train that was supposed to be a 2 and 1/2 h direct Maastricht-Amsterdam one, but unfortunately due to some problems, we had to switch 3 trains and went through Breda and Rotterdam.
Leaving the awful weather aside - it rained all day - we couldn't pick a more perfect time to visit the city. It definitely was a Christmassy atmosphere all around Amsterdam and the fact that it was so crowded made me feel more like home. Well, I might just say that we started already looking for apartments to rent for next year.
