A Day At The Races: Kids Style!

By Ourbabyblog @OurBabyBlogx
When you think of the 'races' you probably go straight to horse-racing, such as The Cheltenham Gold Cup, Royal Ascot & The Grand National, great days out for the adults can be had but they're not exactly fun when it comes to the kids, lets face it, would we really enjoy it if we were that young, probably not..unless we could sit on all the horses and stuff our faces with cake, which unforuntaly isn't going to happen!A Day At The Races: Kids Style!
But, there are lots of races that the kids can get involved in through the year, if you search in the local paper of even online, you'll be surprised at what you can find..

Boat raceAnyone remember the boat race in Stuart Little? Just me?...Basically the little ones build their own boat with the family and everyone comes together at one big lake to race their creations against each other, its not only a great way to bond with them whilst building the perfect racing boat, but it's fun to get them in the competitive spirit too whilst keeping things fun and cheery! Having everyone cheering on their children on a beautiful summers day and fun little prizes at the end too, it will definitely be a fun day for all!Duck RaceThis is probably one I'm looking forward to doing the most with Abbie, there are a few events that happen across the country but the most popular is probably AquaDucked, the perfect family day out whilst raising money for charity, what you do is purchase a funky designed duck of your choice from the website (each duck admits one adult & one child), 65% of the profit goes to their 3 registered charities; Macmillan Cancer Support, CLIC Sargent for Children with Cancer and Marie Curie Cancer Care, then register your duck online and wait for it to arrive! Make sure you bring it to the event as it tells you when you’re racing, it can also be used to claim prizes and lots more, so it’s pretty important! You can win hotel stays, theme park tickets, luxury cruises and loads more!

Bike race!I remember taking part in a lot of these when I was younger, my Dad was an avid bike rider so I was bound to get involved too! Whilst there are the serious races out there such as the North Star Bicycle Race, there are some local events which really bring the fun side to racing, it doesn't matter whether your little one has stabilisers, rides a tricycle or can ride with their hands in the air, it's for everyone! With cake stalls, hook-a-duck stands and coconut shy's too, why not take a picnic with you as well and make a day of it! There are a range of prizes given out from vouchers for the parents, to big cuddly toys, even the chance to win a brand new bike for your little one, not just for 1st place, but lots of runners up prizes and awards for the most helpful, most improved and best looking bike too!
