There is a tiny island in Panama which people believed is cursed. An abandoned resort is still there, derelict and being part of the 200 Pearl islands , Contadora was inhabited by indigenous people who were kicked out by Spaniards in 1513.
In the years that followed, the Pearl Islands were frequently used by pirates but were relatively undisturbed until the 1960s and 1970s when a sprawling tourist resort was built on Contadora.
