With congratulations to Fi and Tom, and a big thank you for sharing your wedding story with us all on English Wedding Blog today. Thanks also to Northamptonshire wedding photographer Aaron Collett for submitting the wedding for a feature. How could I possibly say no? This is right up my street, and the photos are beautiful. You’ll find the wedding story about halfway down the page. Enjoy! Claire xxx
Wedding venue:

A little about the wedding ceremony:
Intimate and simple. We chose 2 readings to be read by a close friend and my aunty – they were very personal to us and really resonated with our guests. They were ‘One Day’ an extract from Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, & ‘The Future,’ By Emma Salmon
Tell us a little about your wedding venue styling and details:
We always knew we wanted to marry at The Saracen’s Head – the food is amazing and we wanted a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. We were also able to decorate the venue ourselves which was a good thing as I had a lot of ideas of how I wanted it to be!
Invitations and reception stationery:
Our invitations were designed by our good friend Dom Wetherall – and we did all the reception stationery ourselves, using stamps and drafting help from Dad with his neat handwriting!
We also made quizzes for all our guests to complete – questions about love, their most memorable bits of the day, future wedding advice etc.
Wedding music and entertainment:
We hired a friend to DJ for us – we knew we wanted to do lots of dancing and celebrating.
What did you wear?
I found my dress on Preloved and it was exactly what I wanted… with a few alterations and a dry clean it was perfect.
I wore my sister-in-law’s wedding veil which was my ‘something borrowed’. It seemed fitting that it was part of her last outfit as an Adams and it was part of my first, as an Adams.
I’m really not fussed with shoes and knew I didn’t want to wear heels and so settled for some sparkly bow shoes which were in the sale at New Look.
I wore my Grandma’s sapphire ring which was my something ‘old and blue’.
Tom’s suit was ordered online, with a tie and pocket square from Reiss.
Memorable wedding day moments:
- Being alone with my Mum and putting my dress on
- Waiting outside the ceremony room with my bridesmaids and Dad – strange mixture of emotions and it was lovely to share the moment with them
- The speeches
- Spending time with Tom on our own – a rare few moments!
Wedding day advice:
To remember the reason why you’re getting married and not to stress the small stuff! Easy to say in hindsight but on the day, so many of our guests said how much the ceremony and venue was “us” which is exactly what we wanted.
