A Beautiful but Bittersweet Wedding at Sedgebrook Hall in Northamptonshire

By Claire

There are some very touching images here — emotions captured in happiness and some moments of reflection. Jamie from Vickerstaff Photography is a wedding photographer I really admire. So I’ll leave you to scroll through the images and enjoy Ellie and Rich’s wedding day. Watch out for some really lovely photos from the dancefloor, oh and the tiger!

Ellie and Rich, I would love to reach out from behind the screen and give you a huge hug. You deserve many years of happiness together and I wish you a long and blissful marriage. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us all on the English Wedding Blog today. Claire xxx

Wedding day advice:

Don’t sweat the small stuff. The wedding took us eight weeks to organise and we wouldn’t have it any other way. For a wedding you need a dress, suits, photographer, rings, venue, registrar, flowers and that’s the lot. The rest is just window dressing and doesn’t make a huge difference to your day. I’ve known people obsess for weeks about the color of the invitations and small things like that. Make sure you pick the right venue, the right photographer, and everything should flow from there.

The bride and groom:

Ellie and Rich Lupton

Wedding venue:

Sedgebrook Hall

Wedding photographer:

Jamie Vickerstaff – Vickerstaff Photography

How would you describe your wedding style?

Relaxed, friendly, colourful, classical

Invitations and reception stationery:

Home made using blank cards from Hobbycraft and an inkjet printer

What did you wear?

Dress and suits from Pronuptia, bridesmaids’ dresses from Next
Ellie’s shoes came from M&S, accessories from Debenhams

A little about the wedding ceremony:

Our wedding was organised in a hurry as Lizzie, Ellie’s Mum’s health was deteriorating rapidly, and unfortunately we lost our race against time when she passed away three weeks before the wedding.

Our wedding suppliers, friends and family really came into their own during what was quite a difficult time and together we managed to have a fantastic day which lifted everyone’s mood and brought the family together.

Because of the tight time frame our suppliers really pulled out all the stops to ensure that the day went as smoothly as possible even though we didn’t get to spend as much time on preparation as I’m sure they would have liked.

I would like to single out our photographer Jamie for a special mention, without an engagement session or planning meetings Jamie delivered an amazing set of photos which really captured the emotion of the day. His group shots had a real charm to them and the photos of us interacting with guests were amazing.

Tell us a little about your wedding venue styling and details:

Sedgebrook Hall and the staff were fantastic. Laura our wedding coordinator was second to none and couldn’t have helped more in a difficult lead up period. As Rich likes to concoct his own cocktails, we used classic cocktails as our table names. Upon seeing this the night before the wedding, the bar staff went home and learned how to make all of the cocktails on our table list and have them available to our guests. An amazing touch and completely unexpected.

Wedding music and entertainment:

We had an Easter egg hunt for the kids and for the music went as cheesy as possible. We had Fly Me To The Moon as our first song.

Memorable wedding day moments:

No moment stood out more than the others, it was just an awesome day with wonderful people. We are very lucky to have wonderful friends and family and to see everyone mingle and enjoy each others company so much was a massive treat.
