Fashion Magazine
Happy Thursday Lovelies and I say 'happy' with such apprehension because although we have many (many) things to be grateful for, we can't help but remember the events on this fateful day 13 years ago.
I normally keep things quite light and relative to fashion and beauty on the blog but I wanted to share my testimony with you guys. Every year on this day and more, I'm reminded of what was and what could have been and it's imperative to really live each moment because nobody knows how our days will begin or end.
September 11, 2001. We were all getting ready to go to Manhattan from Queens, NYC, where we were staying with my aunt. My Aunty had asked me to make another batch of pancakes (which I'm great at btw) for my young cousins when the 1st plane hit. I now sadly remember moaning that "why did I have to make more" and that "they were just being greedy and we should just go" but she insisted that I make them so I did.
Strangely enough, thinking it was "just an accident", we were still planning and detailing all the shops we would visit in lower Manhattan, when the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower and they reported it as a terrorist attack! I still remember the pillar of smoke that looked like a very distant smoke signal from the window of my Aunts high rise apartment. Needless to say, We didn't leave the house that day, we couldn't even leave the country to go back to England that weekend as scheduled. With my Aunt, Mum, very young cousins & sisters (that's 6 children), I dread to think what would have happened if we had left the house earlier that day. The smallest thing made the biggest difference in saving me & my family on 9/11 & I will forever be thankful for Gods Mercies.
My heart still hurts for all those who could not be saved.
