The first time we ever experienced menstrual cramps must have been when we were in our teens. How many times have we wished to have been born a boy and not had to experience these severe cramps and abdominal pain?
A lot of women choose to ignore these pains and suffer in silence or other take the easy way out by popping an over the counter medicine.
Here are 5 ways to help you deal with period pains:
1) Hydrate
Drinking water all the time is a good habit, especially during your periods. Drinking the recommended amount of 8 glasses a day can ease the pain caused during your period cramps.
2) Exercise
You might not feel like doing any physical activity. But the endorphins released when you work out or exercise work as a natural pain killer in your body, thereby relieving pain.

3) Skip coffee
If you are a coffee lover, please skip it for the duration of your menstrual cycle. Caffeine and other carbonated beverages aggravate the stomach, especially during the menstruation when your stomach is at its sensitive worst.

4) Heating pads
Placing a heating pad on the areas that are causing discomfort and pain will help in relaxing the muscles that are cramping and causing discomfort.

5) Eat right
Do not eat junk food during your menstruation. Oily food that is full of fat will only upset your system further.

Stick to high fibrous foods, especially those rich in Vitamin B, E and B6 as they have proven to reduce the symptoms of pain during menstrual cramps.
Do not hesitate to meet medical practitioner if the pain doesn’t subside even after adopting these pain relieving techniques.
