5 Incredibly Easy Winter White Decor Tips

5 Incredibly Easy Winter Decor Tips from Chic California

When you walk through your house after Christmas does it feel a little bare and cold? Now is a great time to add in a little winter white decor. Why does summer get to have all the fun with white? Using white in the winter can make your house feel warm and cozy, even when the temps drop below freezing. Here are 5 incredibly easy tips for adding winter white into your post christmas decor.

#1 Keep The Winter Christmas Decor Rolling.

Did you put away all your Christmas decor? Or just the red and green plaid? Keep anything that says winter in your decor for a little while longer. Snowmen, snow flakes, warm white blankets and winter pillows are keepers. Replace holiday greenery with white glittery branches. When you dim the lights and get snuggly on the couch on a cold night, your snowy winter decor will make you feel warm and cozy!

#2 Dress In Layers

No, I don’t mean long undies under your wool sweater, I mean layer it on thick in your home. Fill a basket with a variety of warm white blankets and quilts. Add lots of white and creamy throw pillows. Fill a table with white candles. Keep white slippers or fuzzy socks for house guests near the front door. Winter white should feel sumptuous and decadent. Sometimes too much of a good thing is really, really good!

#3 Freshen Up With Flowers

Heading to the grocery store? Pick up that bunch of white hydrangea, tulips or creamy white roses. Force some white Amaryllis bulbs in the window sill. Split the flowers up and add some in your bathroom or nightstand. It’s lovely to wake up to the fragrance of roses in the winter time!

#4 Don’t put away the Hot Chocolate!

It’s cold out, the kids have a snow day, and everyone need a wintery treat. Create a hot chocolate bar on your kitchen counter, complete with big, white fluffy marshmallows and white chocolate. Use white mugs and white peppermint sticks to complete that warm winter cup of goodness! Need a recipe? Here’s one from Gimme Some Oven that looks divine!

#5 Add Some Sparkle

When you don’t know what’s missing from your home, add some sparkle. You can’t go wrong! Mercury glass vases on the mantel are a wonderful way to showcase your glittery candles.  Or add a touch of gold to highlight your white additions. Silver accents always bring out the best in winter white. Using white glass, silver vases or gold pillows reflects the light in your home. And who doesn’t need more light in the wintertime?
