5 Favorite Movies About Time

Posted on the 16 February 2015 by Ikzidna @InspiredGround

Everything and anything we do always need and measured with time. We skip breakfast just so we can’t be late to school or work. We sip coffee and relax on the weekends because we have many time. Also, we sense to do things because we know it’s the moment, if not it will slip away. Sometimes because it’s always there, we forget that we can run out of time and waste it all.

These are the movies about time, not just about time travel or time looping, but mainly about how we use time for its purpose and not just let it pass but make effort to appreciate. Here’s my 5 favorite movies about time :

Run Lola Run (1998)

Run Lola Run is about how a girlfriend attempts to save her boyfriend’s life in just 20 minutes, after knowing her boyfriend can get killed. I watched this 10 years ago, but still managed to remember how this movie blew my mind. It involves a lot of running and even with the animation addition, but it delivers the message spot on : we can make all the effort, but when it meant to be, it meant to be.

13 Going on 30 (2004)

_13 going on 30

A story about a popular teenage girl transported to her 30s, realizing that her life isn’t as a success as it may seem. She found out that her adult self is not as nice as she thinks, as her secretary is afraid of her, she never contacted her parents anymore and her teen boy pal hated her. I might have underestimated this movie, but I realize that I enjoyed watching it over and over again. It simply tells how we should take ourselves to the mirror, to see if we still hold our true self after life might drift us to be someone else.

The Groundhog Day (1993)

This one legendary time-loop movie is about a famous and arrogant news anchor seem to be trapped in one Groundhog day. From being confused, to live-in-the-moment, robbing a bank and kill himself, the man couldn’t understand the reason why he’s trapped. The Groundhog Day is one comedy movie with deep spiritual meaning, that we shouldn’t take things for granted and treat this life as the best life we could have.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006)

The tomboy high school girl realized that she’s in between a love triangle with her two guy pals. She tries to not hurt anyone, but it’s impossible. This movie has a simple path and story, but reminded me of the impossible thing to avoid hurting anyone. I loved its simplicity and I think every young man and woman should watch this.

About Time (2013)

One of the best from 2013, About Time tells a young man inherit time travel ability that runs only by the man in his family. The genuine man only wants to fall in love, which he did, after several time traveling to ‘make’ things perfect. But the movie isn’t just about that, it really is about time. The big message in this movie is that you don’t need time travel if you use time wholeheartedly.

Other time related movies I like :

Source Code (2011)

Safety No Guaranteed (2012)

Midnight in Paris (2011)

It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)

The Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

How about you? What time related movies do you love?
