47 nursery children killed in Egypt Bus-Train crash

At least 47 children aged four to six years were killed and 13 injured in the deadly collusion between a school bus and train in southern Egypt on Saturday.

According to officials the bus was carrying about 60 children from a nursery school when it was hit by a train near a village in Manfaloot district in Assiut province.

Egyptian Transport Minister Mohamed Rashad El-Metiny and Head of the Railway Authority, Mostafa Qenawi resigned after the accident, state media reported.

Witnesses said the railroad of crossing were opened when the bus was approached, making it unable to move forward.

Associated Press reported that the distressed families are looking for the the remains of their loved ones along the tracks.

Meanwhile, Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi has directed his ministers to offer much possible support to the families of victims.
